In this course, you will learn how to:

  •     Learn the Disney / Pixar style of storytelling
  •     Identify the “5 Keystones” to a great script
  •     Build a tight, show-stopping outline
  •     Be prepared for a writer’s many hurdles
  •     Tackle troublesome sequences out of order
  •     Learn how to work with storyboard artists
  •     Create entertaining and dynamic antagonists
  •     Strategize for the challenges of writing on schedule
  •     Create and think for a visual medium

The Five Keystones are the five pivotal moments that ensure your screenplay will be dynamic and meaningful from “FADE IN:” to “THE END”. Rob will take a case study approach as the class helps selected students master the keystones and improve their stories through an interactive process that is both fun and informative for the entire class. During your time “in the room” you’ll learn all of the tips, tricks and tools that Rob has collected during his 30 years as an award-winning professional television and movie writer.

Course Structure:

This course will be held over the weekend of March 2014. This intensive weekend is created for any level of writer who wants to be able to quickly identify a story’s 5 Keystones and write magnetic scripts using this industry standard. Everyone will come away with a greater understanding of how and why these 5 Keystones play such an important role in creating captivating and award winning scripts.
