Beginning May 27th 2020, join Nico Colaleo (creator of Ollie & Scoops, and Too Loud on DreamWorksTV) for a brand new livestream series brought to you by CTN. It's CARTOON CRASH COURSE with Nico Colaleo! Each live-streamed episode will be a 2-hour discussion and Q & A of various topics about having a career in animation.

Plus, every episode Nico will be joined by a different prolific special guest from the animation industry! Episode streams will take place every other Wednesday, 4 pm - 6 pm PDT, and will take place in a CTN Zoom meeting room. For a $5 admittance fee (normally $27), you can sit in and a be a part of the live experience, including asking Nico and his guests anything you'd like regarding that episode's topic!

Working in the Animation Industry with KIM ROBERSON and PHIL RYNDA

So, you got a job! This Q&A/Talk will focus on starting your career in cartoons, and what to expect now that you're a part of the animation industry. Joining this discussion will be Kim Roberson (Phineas and Ferb, Amphibia, and currently Creative Manager at Netflix Animation) and Phil Rynda (Adventure Time, and currently Netflix Animation Director).
 
Working From Home in the Animation Industry with Special Guest MATT BRAILY and RUTH TURNER

This Q&A/Talk will focus on how to work in the animation industry during something unexpected, like our current global pandemic. What are the pros and cons to working for home? How should you manage your time? How can one avoid going crazy being inside all week? All this and more will be discussed with a special guest.
 
Storyboarding and Character Design with Special Guests CHEYENNE CURTIS and ASHLYN ANSTEE

Interested in storyboarding and/or character designing for cartoons? This Q&A/Talk will be a discussion about the exciting world of storyboarding and character design for animation, with Nico being joined by special guest artist, Cheyenne Curtis (Star vs the Forces of Evil, Big City Greens, Amphibia) and Ashlyn Anstee (Adventure Time, Harvey Beaks, We Lost Our Human).
 
Voice Acting for Cartoons with Special Guest ERIC BAUZA

A Q&A/Talk for voice acting in animation, how to work at becoming a voice actor, and the process of bringing new and classic characters to life. This Q&A/Talk will focus on creating your own independent cartoon/film/short/series for the internet, outside of the studio system. Further discussion includes differences in working on your indie project versus traditional in-studio projects. Nico is joined by special guest Vivienne Medrano, creator of internet sensations Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.
 
Building Character with Special Guest CRAIG BARTLETT

This Q&A/Talk will focus on how to create well-rounded, interesting characters and situations for a cartoon. How do you find a voice and personality for your characters? Are your characters strong enough? What's the "hook" for your show and the situations that take place in it? All this and much more will be discussed with special guest Craig Bartlett, creator of the Nicktoon classic Hey Arnold!
 
Pitching to Studios with Special Guest JORGE GUTIERREZ
September 30, 2020, 4 pm - 6 pm PDT
So now you've got a great idea, great characters, and you're ready to pitch it all to a studio! Now what? This Q&A/Talk will cover creating a pitch bible for your project, and the process of pitching your baby to studio executives. Nico is joined by special guest Jorge Gutierrez (Creator and director of El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, the theatrical film The Book of Life, and the upcoming Netflix series epic Maya and the Three).
 
Running Your Own Animated Series with Special Guest CRAIG MCCRACKEN and ROB RENZETTI
October 14, 2020, 4 pm - 6 pm PDT
This Q&A/Talk will focus on the highest point you can reach in animation: Showrunning your own series. What entails being a good director to your crew? What's it like being the captain of the ship? Nico will discuss his experience running a show via the internet, with a long-distance crew of artists around the world, while his special guest Daron Nefcy (creator of Star vs the Forces of Evil) will share her experiences of running a show and directing her crew traditionally in-house in a studio environment.
 
RULES:  Please note that it is prohibited to record, photograph, screenshot or distribute talks and demo's of this Online Session on any other platform. Please be respectful to the artist and the other participants in this stream.

NOTE: Please register at least 30 min early, as it takes the system 15-20 minutes to send the registration Zoom link. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee you will be accepted into the session on time.
