DESCRIPTION
Story and Image is an amazing one of a kind five-part lecture series with weekly installments exploring the Creative Process, the Artist’s Journey, the transformative power of Narrative,
and what it is to be a Visual Storyteller.

"I believe we are all born storytellers with a unique, authentic story to tell. In twenty years of teaching at my alma mater, Art Center, I have been privy to many a unique creative process, and just as many relationships with the lifelong artistic journey. I have learned more by witnessing hundreds of students over twenty years of teaching than in my own journey or anything I could read in a book. What I know beyond all else is this: at some point, most artists connect their chosen craft with an authentic voice by assessing what drives them in the first place. Once honed, that voice is then connected with a sense of purpose and the circuit is completed by contributing it to humanity in some way." ~Dominick Domingo

DOMINICK DOMINGO

Dominick graduated with distinction from Art Center College of Design. He spent 11 years as an artist with Disney Feature Animation (Lion King, Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Little Match Girl and One by One) while illustrating Books for major publishers like Penguin, Putnam, Random House, Hyperion, Harcourt, Disney Publishing and Wizards of the Coast. He went on to found the Entertainment track at Art Center, where he taught for twenty years, while making award-winning short films and becoming a published, award-winning author of narrative nonfiction, YA Fantasy, Mythic Fiction and Magical Realism. His intimate understanding of storytelling, transformation, and the creative process is founded in having been lucky enough to see it in action every day of his adult life, and to have worked with students in finding their creative voice and mastering a conceptual approach to contributing it to the world. His workshops and lectures are inspiring, his speaking style soulful and approachable. There is nothing elitist about the creativity we all share and are driven to express!

Dominick Domingo founded the Entertainment Arts track in Art Center’s Illustration program, and taught at his Alma Mater for twenty years.

STORYTELLING AND TRANSFORMATION

Storytelling is synonymous with being human. This lecture will kick off the inspiring 5-part series by exploring how story provides catharsis for the individual, and by extension, collective evolution for society at large.
